Choose the movement you need
Manual recliner
Check how you release and close the footrest and whether you can use it comfortably.
Power recliner
Try the controls and check which parts move. Different models offer different adjustment.
Lift recliner
Check the lift movement, seat measurements and controls in person where possible. Choose for the individual user, not just the room.
Try the seat and check the dimensions
Compare seat height, width and depth, the arm position and the back. Sit with your feet supported and try the positions you expect to use. Check the published user-weight limit and any other model-specific requirements.
A recliner is not a substitute for individual medical or mobility advice. If it is being selected to meet a particular care need, discuss that need with an appropriate professional.
Measure in every position
Confirm the practical details
Ask how the chair arrives, whether assembly or connection is needed, and which delivery service you have chosen. Check any battery or backup feature rather than assuming one is included.
Follow the operating instructions and keep the mechanism clear of children, pets, cables and objects. Ask for help if it does not operate normally.
